When The XX broke onto the scene back in 2009, their self titled debut album placed them in the hearts of every eclectic music lover around the world. Their minimalistic style of spacious guitar riffs, heart hugging vocals and beefy drums became as iconic sonically as their stand out X branded artwork.
After their more electronic followup album Coexist in 2012 the band took a well deserved break, and followed other solo ventures. Jamiexx (as he calls himself in his solo work) continued to grow his already highly respected name as a DJ and producer and released his debut solo album ‘In Colour’ to very high acclaim. The album consisted of a lot of building textures, complete with old sampled records and deep analogue synthesisers.
2017 at long last has seen the release of The XX’s third studio album ‘I See You’. The album has all the trademark XX soul we have all loved since their conception but with the added JamieXX sample-based textures of his solo work. Check out the album in full on Apple Music HERE.
The band have also got themselves into the record books as being the first band to sell out 7 back to back shows in the legendary O2 Brixton Academy in March. There are still tickets available on their extensive international tour, click HERE to nap yourself one before they’re all gone.
