Violet Days are an pop band from Stockholm Sweden, and fronted by the very talented singer/songwriter Lina Hansson. They have been releasing very infectious pop tunes since 2014. Their track ‘So Dope’ gathered quite a buzz on its release last year, check out the video for the track below and you’ll know why.
Thankfully Violet Days are back again, with another corker of an indie pop anthem called ‘Your Girl’. Speaking about the lyrics on the track, Lina said:
“I guess this song is my way of saying that sometimes you need to feel like you´re more than just enough for someone. That you want to feel special and deserve not to be taken for granted. It´s like being kept in an emotional limbo where you don´t know what anyone feels anymore, cause there´s no interaction, and that sucks.”
The production of the track is truly inspiring. track starts with reverse lofi samples and stabbed guitar chords and drops opens up a throbbing first verse of reverse organ chords and percussive vocal effects. Lina’s beautifully crisp voice sails above the track reminiscing on a nostalgic love story. When the chorus drops the stripped back instrumentation helps convey her addictive message of ‘I don’t only wanna be your girl’. The track continues to evolve in an incredibly creative way with a second verse of Imogen Heap ‘Hide and Seek’ type backing vocals and a second bridge of thumping kicks and claps. The track really is beautifully put together, check it out in full below.
